It is finally here! My bump looks like a real baby bump (well to me anyway, after weeks of willing baby to grow!!)
This picture was taken last week at 19 weeks...
In the past few weeks along with the usual, we celebrated our second married (and last baby free) Valentine's Day at my favorite restaurant - Charlie Palmer's. We also went to the Mavs vs Jazz game with some friends and had center court floor seats, courtesy of Ian's firm!! Our seats were right behind Chuck Greenberg and we were so close to the action it was incredible!
I've sewn a few more bibs for some friends who are expecting, including one for our "blended baby" mixing Texas A&M and Texas Tech fabrics. I've also expanded into appliques on onesies! I have only made one so far because I decided to wait until we know Baby's gender (TUESDAY!!!) to really get started on those. We are so excited to finally find out what we are having, it feels such a long wait!

Inspired by Martha Stewart....
Maybe its this "nesting" thing I've heard so much about that you experience during pregnancy, but I've had the itch lately to do all sorts of DIY projects around the house!! We were really busy this weekend, but between two fun date nights and normal weekend errands, I somehow managed to get a lot accomplished. For me, weekends are usually enjoyed relaxing on the couch, but I couldn't really sit still the past few days.
After two trips to JoAnne's and Lowe's - I'm still in the middle of a few projects, but I wanted to post a few pictures of a few things I put together this weekend (and recently)...
This project I did awhile ago, but took FOREVER! I picked out these 6 fabrics, sanded and stained the frames and voila! These hang over our couch in our main living room.
Changed our boring white lampshades into something a little cuter... Ian sure loves having these in our bedroom! :)

| I went a little flower crazy and had several extras from my lamp project, plus extra fabric from the living room project... so I made a fun little pillow! |
My favorite project so far - a little baby bib!!! I bought A TON of fabric and am working on two more bibs as we speak. I feel like such a 50's housewife saying this, but I love, love, love sewing and seeing all these cute fabrics come together. I have so many fun ideas for Baby once we find out what the gender is - I can't wait to get started!! (two more weeks until we know!!!)
Ian is helping me with another project we're in the middle of - distressing a chair - since I can't be around the paint and stain Ian is an awesome husband and took over those jobs for me. After showing him everything I've done that I thought was so cute and crafty, Ian says Baby is the best thing we've made by far. (Awwww) :)
What a fun weekend!

The Beginning...
Ian and I have been married just over a year now, and it has flown by!! We've had so much fun traveling, experiencing a lot of places together for the first time and just being together!! In the last year We've been to Costa Rica, New York, New Orleans, Atlanta, Tennessee, Tampa/Sarasota, celebrated Ian's 30th birthday, and made several trips to Lubbock (ssssssss), College Station (Whoop!!!), Austin, Houston and San Antonio to visit friends!! Here's some pictures from our vacations...
Volcano outside the rain forest we got to explore on our honeymoon in Costa Rica
Outside our bungalow in Costa Rica
I rode a horse!!!
We got to see David Letterman!! Front Row!!!
No trip to NYC is complete without seeing the Empire State Building
For Ian's 30th Birthday I organized Bar Golf on McKinney Avenue! Ian's brother Nathan and wife Danielle got to join us for some fun...
The rivalry continues...
We've also been working hard to get our house all set up just right... Ian has done a lot of work around here like fixing our entire sprinkler system himself, redoing an entire closet shelving unit, lots of landscaping and handy man repairs on our 80 year old house and hanging up every new thing that I bring home!
While we had a few more trips and home projects planned, we got a huge surprise in November when we found out that I'm pregnant and due exactly a year and a half from our wedding date, July 16!!! We couldn't be more excited for Baby Fairchild to arrive and start the new adventure of parenthood! We're so lucky that several of our friends will also have kids around the same age, so lots of friends around for Baby!
Just when I thought I had the house just about right, I've been feeling the urge recently for some DIY projects just to spice things up (or maybe it was the entire week of boredom cooped up at home thanks to the ice and snow fest of 2011)!!! Either way, since we won't know Baby's gender for almost a month which means I can't start Baby's room yet - I've got a whole list of other things to do around the house- recovering chairs, making lampshades, refinishing some furniture, making new curtains... On and on... Let's see how far I get! I'll try to post pictures of what I accomplish.
So with everything going on preparing for Baby and still having fun being married, I thought I'd start a blog to keep up with it all!!
