Happy Half Birthday to Me!!!

SIX MONTHS OLD!!!!

Six Month Stats:
15 pounds, 11 ounces - 45th percentile
27 1/4 inches - 95th percentile

I remember meeting my parents for the first time like it was yesterday and it has already been six whole months since I was born!  Unbelievable!
I've learned a ton this past month, I'm constantly rolling over any and all directions! I cannot be left alone on my blanket playing very long or I'll end up on the other side of the room just rolling around!!  I also know how to scooch around when I'm on my back using my legs and hiney.  I do something similar to the hip raise move Mom does when she's exercising, and can get pretty far pretty fast!!

Given all my moving around, my parents usually find me in all sorts of weird positions when they come to get me from my crib like facing the complete opposite direction they left me.

I already blogged about this, but I'm so proud of myself I have to mention again that I learned how to SIT UP ON MY OWN this month!!!  Huge moment!   Mom and Dad have been playing with me while I'm sitting up, but always leaning against them so one day they just decided to scoot back and see what I could do and wouldn't you know it I had no problem sitting!  I'd been trying to tell them for weeks to let me show them my trick, but they are terrible listeners and hardly ever do what I say...

Hey Dad, that's cool, just taking my picture?  Wait, what?!?  Mom isn't right behind me??  I'm sitting on my own!?!?!  Oh my gosh!!!!

Stacking my stars

My favorite sitting up activity, driving!

But I still like to lay down and play sometimes too....

I'm loving this new food they keep giving me too!  So far I've tried sweet potatos, carrots, pears, broccoli and bananas.  The pears were a little tart the first time I tried them and kept making funny faces, but otherwise they're all delicious and I gobble it up in record time!  Mom is making all my food for me and I tell her how yummy it is by making "num, num, num" sounds the entire time I eat.

I'm eating solids three times a day - fruit and oatmeal in the morning, just a little snack of vegetable for lunch, then rice cereal and more veggies for dinner, plus I get bottles with all those meals.  I also nurse two times a day, so still eating 5 times.  I'm on a very good schedule, I eat my biggest meal at 7:30 when I wake up then, 11, 2, 5 and 8.

I've always been such a good sleeper, and more of the same there.  Bed at 8:30 and wake up about 7:15.  I've started napping about an hour after I eat for 30 minutes - an hour each time.  Who knows what Mom does with all that free time I give her...

I'm very observant, always looking around and people constantly ask my parents - is Emma always so quiet?  I'm definitely much quieter when I'm first around people other than Mom and Dad... everything is just brand new to me so I'm just taking it alllll in.  Even if I'm not talking around other people, I'm still extremely curious and if you're wearing glasses - watch out!! I'll grab them right off your face.  I'm also very into necklaces and zippers.  Also, its probably best not to get your face with my reach because my hands will be in your mouth or up your nose in no time.

At home I babble all the time with some Da and Ba sounds mixed in.  My favorite noises are sticking my tongue out making raspberry sounds.  I giggle and make lots of happy baby sounds all during the day, I don't have much to fuss about because life is so good!

Mom has been working on a few signs with me and I just started signing "eat" a few days ago, and what some might consider "milk"/"hi"/"bye"! Those three all look really similar in my opinion so maybe Mom didn't pick very good signs to start with... but I'm doing some opening and closing of my fists when I eat and when I first see new people.  It's just all so new and exciting right now I could just be flapping around for all they know! :)

Being so observant I definitely know what a lot of things are.  I get so excited when I'm sat down in my high chair and you better have my food ready because if I wasn't hungry before I sat down I will letting you know I'm ready to eat in about 5 seconds.  I make funny scrunched up faces when I see Mom coming at my face with the washcloth or lotion - I love getting clean!

Speaking of, I still love bath time and all my toys.  Since we only have a big garden tub, I'm still taking baths in the sink but I've got lots of room to play.

I get my baths at night then since I'm always asleep when he leaves Dad gets to read me my bedtime story so we have some time to hang out together just us two.

Having Mom at home most of this past month has been awesome!  Since the weather has been so wonderful we've gotten to go for walks almost every day!  I talk to her for the first 20 minutes or so about everything I'm seeing then eventually fall asleep.  Its been about 60-70 degrees almost every day, but Mom still brings like 3 blankets with us in case an arctic wind blows in out of no where.  We got a new jogging stroller to log all our miles!

Oh yeah, rockin' the pink flower shades...

With Mom at home, I have been able to go to music classes at the library, have lunch with friends, see family, and go shopping all the time :)

Have you guys ever played peek a boo?  If not, you are totally missing out because it is SO FUN and definitely my favorite right now!  I like to pull Mom's hand over my face then push it away so we can play for hours at a time!  I giggle so much, its just so weird how she keeps disappearing and reappearing - she should definitely start a magic show.

Just so I don't forget some of my mannerisms - I kick ALL the time, when I'm being held, playing, getting my diaper changed, just whatever, I'm constantly on the move - same goes for waving my arms, basically I never just sit still; I giggle as soon as Mom gets out the lotion, I love how it feels!!; I often pick just one leg up and hold it in the air indefinitely - ab workout!; I get super excited when I'm laid down for my naps or bedtime; when I see kids about 2-3 years old walking around I immediately reach out to them to play - not babies or adults though, toddlers are the most fun!; 4-5 in the afternoon I'm getting a little clingy and always want to be right next to my Mom.

Overall I'm still such a happy baby, tons of smiles for everyone and Mom and Dad say all the time how lucky they are... Love them :)

Love you all!

I can SIT!

Very big milestone this week everyone!!! I can sit up all by myself!  I definitely want Mom or Dad close by still because I get very excited playing with my toys, then start leaning to one side and can fall really quickly if I'm not careful!  I've bumped my head a few times thanks to someone (not naming names MOM) not paying close enough attention and letting me fall over.   She's learning...

Ok, not technically sitting on my own in the next one - but I love my big girl high chair!

Last week we went down to Midlothian to celebrate Doc's birthday at his office!  He hadn't been feeling well so Sau Sau made lunch for all of us and we got together over lunch.  Happy Birthday Doc!!

Mom did NOT tell me there would be cake or I definitely would've stayed awake longer!

Christmas!!!

Mom gave me my blog back so I can tell everyone about the totally awesome first Christmas I had over a month ago!!!  I got to celebrate THREE TIMES so I needed awhile to recover from all the excitement!  Such a lucky girl!
On Christmas Eve I went to church for the very first time (my parents are such slackers) to the Park Cities United Methodist family service.  The service which was especially for families like ours with young kids, but I listened the whole time and only fussed for a few seconds when Mom kept jostling me around during nap time. Dad took over and I went right to sleep.   Doc, Sau-Sau, Uncle Ross, Aunt Becky and Uncle Neal all joined us for the service!
Fast asleep in church...

Right after church we drove over to see my Dad's family at Uncle Chris and Aunt Patricia's house.

Playing with my great-grandma, Peggy!  We coordinated our outfits...

Checking out my new purse!

ELMO!!!!!!

Grandad!
Cousin Catherine and Austin

I lost my cute bow and shoes somewhere along the way...

Uncle Chris... Aunt Patricia wasn't feeling well so we didn't get to see her on Christmas Eve
I got so many presents and had so much fun on Christmas Eve that I thought surely this was it and maybe Santa didn't need to bring me anything at all! But I guess he already had everything ready to go because when Mom and Dad woke me up the next morning they said we'd had a special visitor the night before!! Santa!!! I was on my very best behavior both times I met him, and didn't cry once, so I couldn't wait to see what fun gifts he brought for me!

First thing Christmas morning they make me pose for pictures instead of checking out all my new stuff.  Typical parents...

Doc, Sau Sau, Ross, Becky and Neal came over a little bit later....

I love practicing driving skills with my steering wheel, it has a horn that barks like a dog and chimes when I slam my hands down on it. Which I like to keep doing over and over and over and over and over....

The Slaydons came over a little bit later to eat lunch and celebrate Christmas with us!! Karrington is the same age now as my Mom was when Karrington was born. Who would've thought my Mom was ever a kid? Weird, right? She's so old!

That Uncle Neal is such a hipster...

With Doc and Sau Sau, I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer I had such a fun Christmas!
My cousin Cameron wasn't able to be with us on Christmas Eve, so the week after Christmas we all got together again at Grandy and Grandad's.
I was just so spoiled the first time the Fairchilds got together, I was couldn't believe that I had even more gifts under the tree! I got this cute lady bug rocking chair that sings songs and is so soft.

Butterfly crinkle toy - my favorite sound!

Aunt Patricia was feeling better so we got to hang out with her this time!

A few shots of a few more of my cute Christmas outfits this year - Mom had to basically start dressing me in them on December 1 to make sure I got to wear them all!
All in all I can't imagine a better first Christmas and Mom says we will do this every year!!! I'm practicing my good manners every day since Santa is always watching :)
